Chico Bean Honolulu Concert reviews
Old School Concert
The best sound man had the Guess Who, unfortunately for Chico Bean. The Guess Who did a nice job of playing their songs, although it was with one original member - the drummer. The band needs to transfer his pre-song dialogue to the lead singer or better yet, remove that banter from the show entirely. Someone allowed them to remain on stage too long since it obviously cut into Chico Bean's set. According to C.B., they were forced to cut several songs out of their show due to local noise laws which meant several really good songs were not played. The hi lite was, of course, when they played American Woman. Couple that with the below-average job by their sound man and the fact that the band is obviously more than burned out on playing their hits from the early 1970s, and we got pretty much a yawner of a show. But I still have great memories of the young band with Chuck Negron, Corey, and Danny singing unlike anyone else, and of course Floyd Sneed anchoring the band. I miss those days very much, and the concert on Saturday only reminded me that our time has long come and gone. There are many variables that can make or break a concert experience, first and foremost would be the sound man controlling the music heard by the general audience.
